Elementary Clubs: International School:

Elementary students from Grades 4 and 5 have the opportunity to join a club each semester. RIS Elementary Clubs serve to enrich the educational environment, meeting every last period of Day 1A. Below is a list of clubs offered this first semester:

Basic Japanese	Ms. Nora E407	This is a club for beginners. Students will learn basic vocabulary, Hiragana and possibly Katakana. Limited to 8 members.

Boardgames	Mrs. Katie E501	Students will learn how to play a variety of boardgames and participate in cooperative groups. Limited to 20 members.

Chess	Mr. Robert AD122	Students will learn problem solving strategies in playing chess. Limited to 10 members.

Comic Book Creations	Mr. Matt E503	Students will design a comic book using various planning, writing, and creative design strategies. Limited to 15 members.

Designer	Mr. Somkiat E402	Students will learn the different techniques of fabric painting and paint Acrylic and Batik on cloth. Limited to 15 members.

Digital Photography	Mr. Rob E202	Students will be using digital cameras to photograph and study a variety of themes and subjects. Photographs taken will also be used for the school yearbook. Limited to 15 members.

Dynamic Drawing	Mr. Dave E504	Students will take part in drawing activities and will study artistic methods and experiment with their own through abstract, self portrait, landscape, and other forms. Beginners and experts are welcome. Limited to 20 members.

Futsala (Indoor Soccer)	Mr. Tommy Covered Gym	Play futsala and learn the rules and skills needed to have fun without using your hands! Physically challenging and fast paced with smaller teams, goals, and field. Limited to 14 members.

Internet Resources	Mr. Jeff E202	Have you ever wanted to make and play Sudoku Puzzle? A crossword puzzle? Needed extra work in Mathematics? And All for free! In this club you will be able to make your own list of Internet resources. Limited to 12 members.

Jewelry Making	Ms. Kim E311	Students will use semi-precious stones and pearls to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc. Limited to 12 members.

Lego	Ms. Madeleine & Ms. Diana E509	Students will build and create with Lego. Limited to 30 members.

Let's Chat	Ms. Heather	Students in this club will be exposed to a number of fun activities which will engage them in oral practice in English. Limited to 12 members.

Percussion Ensemble	Mr. Sebert E404	Percussion Ensemble club offers students the opportunity to learn and develop the basic technical skills required to play percussion instruments. It also provides students a chance to learn how to read musical notations, produce sounds correctly and appropriately, and recognize the balance and intonation in playing as a group or ensemble. Limited to 17 members.

Pop Up Origami	Mrs. Irene E507	Students will make various origami and pop-up projects, following oral and sometimes written instructions. They will not only have finished products of which they can be proud of, but they will learn careful measuring, thinking, and construction skills. Limited to 10 members.

Sewing/Stitching and Craft	Ms. Elsa E508	Counted sewing/stitching craft is one of hte simplest least expensive and most rewarding types of needle craft and is suitable for children of all ages. Learn the basic of sering and stitching. Enjoy while creating home and school decoration. Limited to 10 members.

Yearbook	Ms. Dainty E201	This club will help design and produce the Elementary Yearbook. Students will learn the process and skills in producing Yearbook pages and will be involved in digital photography and graphic design using software such as Photoshop and InDesign. Limited to 20 members.
