1. compare 2 stories of the
same type (group) - a small group activity based on the each student’s
choice of type.
2. read and discuss stories from a variety of cultures to discuss a variety
of characteristics (ie. pictures, words from other languages, location,
characters, etc)
3. read and discuss several examples of the same storyline told in a variety
of cultures (i.e. Red Riding Hood, Cinderella)
4. sharing, reading modern stories that have been based on the characteristics
of the oral tradition (Superman, Spiderman)
5. discussion of stories written from another point of view (i.e. the Three
little wolves and the big bad pig)
6. discussion of stories that are take-offs on the oral tradition stories
(i.e. Henny Penny)
7. write their own planings for four types as we go along, then choose
one for formal writing and present it (formative assessment)
