Elementary Technology Department
 |
The Elementary
Technology Department has grown in the past couple of years. We
have three labs now: one for K-2 instruction, one for 3-5 instruction,
and a Drop-In lab for the whole Elementary Section. Our two Main
Labs work on a set schedule with teachers signing in for extra time,
and our Drop-in Lab functions only with a sign-up schedule. The
two main instructional labs are each equipped with 25 of the latest
Apple eMac computers. The Drop In Lab has 16 iMac computers. We
are fortunate to have cutting edge computer and multi-media technology
as well as the most current teaching techniques for technology instruction.

Integrating technology into the classroom curriculum is key here at RIS. Our job is to seamlessly integrate these six technology standards into our teachers' lesson plans: Basic Skills - being literate in commonly used technology, Ethical and Moral Behavior - promoting cooperation and respecting the work of others, Productivity - increasing the efficiency of our work, Communication - making, sending, and responding to messages easier, Research - improving the ability to find needed information, Critical Thinking - developing analytical and decision making skills. |
