Thai language curriculum in RIS elementary school is designed following the Ministry of education’s standard. Under the curriculum, Thai nationals are required to study Thai language 5 periods a week. To ensure that the students are well-rounded with the language, the curriculum enhances language competencies in all aspects covering listening, speaking, reading, and writing. For non-Thai students, the Thai culture curriculum is developed to help these students to understand and aware of Thai culture as well as to groom them to grow in this no-boundary world effectively. Through this curriculum, students will be guided to become familiar with such issues as Thai people, history, and geography.
Activities are also used to make students enjoy the learning while gaining hands-on experience. Such activities include handwriting contest, cooking Thai food and dessert, Thai manner competition, and making Thai handcraft. To help students understand and appreciate Thai culture, celebrations are also held for Thai festival such as Loy Kratong, Songkran, Teacher day, and King’s birthday.
