Why study ESL?

The High School English as a Second Language ( ESL ) Program offers intensive English instruction to grade 9-10 students at the Intermediate and Advanced Levels of ESL. The purpose of the ESL Program is to prepare students to successfully enter and complete mainstream classes. Students are given every opportunity to develop the language skills of listening, reading, writing, and speaking required in the regular grades. Students are challenged to read extensively in English and to use study skills and learning strategies which will enable them to cope with mainstream courses.
