The table above shows how our students performed in the 2007 Advanced Placement exams. RIS had 89 students sit for 157 exams, easily the highest set of numbers for any international school in Thailand. It should be noted that 36% of all scores were a "5", the highest possible grade, denoting excellent results for course which are college course equivalent. The table shows the 12 AP courses on offer, including Calculus BC and Physics C - Mechanics and Electromagnetism, subjects which really stretch and prepare our tertiary engineering/physical science bound students. Whilst it may be a little unfair to single out individual subjects, the Calculus AB scores were the best ever for RIS with fourteen 5's out of 21 students sitting the exam, and 20 out of 21 scoring 3 or above. Other courses continued to show excellent results as well, such as Calculus BC, Biology, Psychology, and Micro-Economics.
On an equally important note, all of our AP courses have successfully passed the new A.P. audit, and as such, have now been officially authorized by the College Board. This authorization signifies our legal entitlement to show Advanced Placement on official school transcripts. Undergoing the AP Audit was a new 2007 initiative on the part of the College Board. |
