Religion Education 1 - Community,

The core text, "Weaving the Web - Community, Story, People",
is the first of a two part series prepared for and approved by
the Bishops of England and Wales. It is a key part of the British
National Curriculum for the teaching of Religious Education to
Grades 9 and 10. The course aims at developing and fostering the
key tenets of Catholic teaching in the area of community living,
the history and traditions of the Christian and Church, and the
role in today's Church of the individual as a member of the People
of God. Areas of study include Conflict and Reconciliation, Christianity
as Gift and Call, the role of prophecy in world religions, Personal
and Spiritual Development and the role of the Church in the Developing
World.

Religious Education 2 - Communication, Celebration,
Values
(Required of all Catholics)

This is the second part of the "Weaving the Web" course.
It focuses on "Communication, Celebration, Values".
It focuses on fostering a greater understanding of the role of
Rite and Ritual in the Church, the development and deepening of
individual spirituality and Prayer Life, the fundamentals of Christian
morality, the needs for personalized and internalized moral codes,
and moral decision making and conscience. It is hoped that students
exiting from this course will be capable of making a more personal
and meaningful commitment to their Christian beliefs empowered
by their personal faith relationship with their God.

Religious Education 3 - St.Mark's Gospel/Introduction
to Christian Ethics (Required of all Catholics)

This course is composed to two distinct components:
a)An in-depth study of the Bible through a study of The Gospel
According to St.Mark. Students will familiarize themselves with
some of the most important themes in both the Old and New Testaments,
while furthering their understanding of the person of Jesus, the
nature of Discipleship, the Messianic Secret, The Kingdom of God
and the implications and challenges of Christian Discipleship
today.
b) The second module in a further exploration of the basis of
Christian morality, drawing upon the call to active discipleship
found in Mark and in preparation for the Grade 12 course. Students
explore the historical and traditional components of ethics and
values and their own role as builders of the Kingdom of God.

Religious Education 4 - Contemporary Christian Issues
(Required of all Catholics)

day
Offered : One year

This course is a prepartaions for an adult life in the world,
emphasizing moral values of one's way of life, with emphasis on
the married vocation. It deals with Christian maturity, respect
for one another, a mature approach to marriage, obligations of
Christian partners in marriage and the skills needed in raising
a family

ESL Religious Education 1,2 - Intermediate, Advanced
Duration : One semester
Offered : Semester 1 or 2
Credit : 0.5 each
ESL Religious Education is a modified version of the "Weaving
the Web" program required for all Catholic students in Grades
9 and 10. The Intermediate ESL Religious Education course aims
at developing the key Catholic beliefs in the areas of: community
living, the history and traditions of the Christian and Church,
the role of the individual in today's Church, and the role of
the Church in the Developing World. The Advanced ESL Religious
Education course focuses on understanding the role of Rite and
Ritual in the Church, individual spirituality and Prayer Life,
the fundamentals of Christian morality, and moral decision making
and conscience. It is hoped that students exiting from the ESL
Religious Education courses will be capable of making a more meaningful
commitment to their Christian faith as well as developing their
English language skills.
