Values 1 - Human Relations
Duration : One semester, class meets every other day
Offered : Semester 1 & 2

This course examines social problems such as problems of physical health, mental illness and social dependency, sex-related social problems, drug-related problems, crime and criminals, violence, poverty and affluence prejudice, and discrimination, sex roles and inequality, aging and ageism, the changing family, problems of public education, technology and its social impact, urban problems, population pressure and environmental stress, etc. Matters of global significance are also stressed.

Credit : 0.5
This course concerns with the principles of right and wrong in relation to human action and character. Students will be able to distinguish objective truth from subjective opinion and realize that their personality traits can be used, controlled, and made productive. It also widens the student's awareness to world problems and their responsibility to help minimize them.
Values 3- Moral Issues in World Religions
Duration : One semester, class meets every other day
Offered : Semester 1 or 2
Credit : 0.5

This course helps students to understand the basic tenets of Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Judaism, and Christianity. Through the comparative study of these religions and the major religious traditions, students also understand the people of other culture.

Values 4 - Personality, Development and Relationships
Duration : One semester, class meets every other day
Offered : Semester 1 & 2
Credit : 0.5

This course covers topics like understnading self and others. Getting married, making adjustments, today's families, parenting, facing family changes, resolving family crises, chosing a career, balancing needs and resources, managing independent living and your environments, keeping healthy, etc. Students will be required to do research papers on related topics and participate in field trips to places of interest.

ESL Values 1,2 - Intermediate, Advanced
Duration : One semester
Offered : Semester 1 or 2
Credit : 0.5 each

ESL Values is offered to Intermediate and Advanced ESL students for one class period each week. The course content is based selected topics from the grade 9 and 10 Values curriculum (in particular, social problems, ethics, communication, relationships, and identity), with an emphasis on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills tailored for the ESL learner.
