RIS Technology Resources Borrowing Policy
draft, 19 August 2002

Certain resources of the Technology Committee are freely made available to the faculty for use by teachers for classroom related activities. All teachers are encouraged to use these resources. For more information on available resources, contact one of the school’s technology coordinators.

Teachers are requested to follow the guidelines listed below to ensure easy access and availability of these resources:

  • All equipment is checked out as normal school supplies or books are with the school ID.
  • Each person who checks out technology equipment is responsible for this equipment and for the care of this equipment. If the equipment is lost, this person is responsible for replacing the equipment, or if the equipment is damaged, this person is responsible for paying for repairs, if the repairs are caused by negligence.
  • Each person checking out equipment is expected to return it in the allotted time. While there are no fines for the late returning of equipment, the right to borrow technology resources can be curtailed if a lack of concern for or abuse of the system is exhibited.
  • Teachers must submit the names of all students who will be allowed to borrow technology equipment before students may borrow such equipment. This list must be approved by a meeting of the school’s technology coordinators. Additional conditions may be placed on students based on records or previous experience. Students who borrow technology equipment must have a consent form signed by a parent or guardian no more than one time per academic year. A student’s right to borrow technology equipment can be curtailed at any time and without warning. Students are responsible for lost and damaged equipment.
  • Teachers are not responsible for the damages their students may cause to technology resources. However, if the teacher is found to have been negligent in supervision or it is felt by the school’s technology coordinators that technology equipment is not being adequately used by particular teachers, limitations can be placed on the right of these teachers to borrow technology equipment.

Technology Resources checkout centers:

1. AV room (for all MS and ES faculty)
2. HSRC (for high school teachers and students)

  • The supervisor in each checkout center in entitled to demand return or stop the of technology equipment as situations warrant during the school year.
  • The supervisor in each checkout center is allowed to set time limits and due dates based uopn particular needs and demands around the school.
  • The supervisor in each checkout center will advertise the current inventory available for borrowing.
