Scholarships

RIS is seeking students who are exceptional in the areas of academics and the visual and performing arts, as well as students from unrepresented or underrepresented nations. Scholarships are available for students new to RIS for the 2018–2019 academic year. Also available starting this year are scholarships based on financial need.

Details and requirements of each scholarship:

Students from unrepresented or underrepresented nations. (This scholarship is offered year-round, on a rolling admissions basis.)

  • Grade point average of 3.00 or above and/or equivalent standardized test results
  • Displays qualities of character and maturity
  • Students from unrepresented nations will receive a scholarship of 50% of the tuition fees for the first year (the Campus Development Fund is also waived) and 30% thereafter
  • Students from underrepresented nations will receive an annual scholarship of 30% of the tuition fees (the Campus Development Fund is also waived)

(Applications for the following scholarships will be accepted between January and March 2018.)

Academic Scholarship

  • Grade point average of 3.75 or above and/or exceptional standardized test results
  • Evidence of academic excellence through awards / competitions
  • Evidence of leadership roles and community service
  • Displays qualities of character and maturity, which are supported by letters of recommendation
  • The scholarship offer will be based on the strength of the student’s profile

Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship

  • Grade point average of 3.25 or above and/or above-average standardized test results
  • Demonstrated artistic excellence as evidenced by video performance(s), portfolio, awards, news releases, etc.
  • Displays qualities of character and maturity, which are supported by letters of recommendation
  • The scholarship offer will be based on the strength of the student’s profile

Scholarship based on Financial Need (maximum of 5 scholarships offered annually)

  • Grade point average of 3.25 or above and/or equivalent standardized test results
  • Displays qualities of character and maturity, which are supported by letters of recommendation
  • This scholarship offer will be based on both the strength of the student’s profile and the family’s financial needs

To be considered for the financial need scholarship, the following information must be completed in full by both parents:

  • Occupation
  • Position
  • Company name (if owner: company registration certificate—within last 3 months, company statements, bank confirmation issued from bank, form 51/50 tax reports)
  • Salary certification (salary slips from the previous 6 months and bank book)
  • Form 91/90 tax reports
  • An explanation of any extenuating circumstances that add to financial hardship, as well as the percentage of tuition being sought as a scholarship

Application Procedure

  1. Fill out an application online: www.rism.ac.th/admissions/apply-now
  2. Submit three confidential letters of recommendation (2 teachers/1 administrator)
  3. Submit an essay on future aspirations and goals (500-word maximum)
  4. Sit an entrance exam
  5. Attend a selection interview/audition

Conditions

In all cases, a student may lose his/her scholarship for the subsequent academic year if the stated requirements are not maintained. Serious breaches of discipline will result in immediate termination of financial aid/scholarship award for the remainder of the academic year.
