Little Princess - Creative Dance:- Our Little Princess class introduces our students to the magical world of ballet through fairy-tales, play pretend, and dress up dance play. Goals are to listen to teachers, follow directions, and share space safely with others. The lessons focus is on "Free dance movement". Students are encouraged to express what they feel through play-pretend and rhythmic activities using different costumes, variety of hand props like ribbons, scarves, flowers, crowns, tambourines, etc. Movements introduced: Stand in parallel, straightening legs and toes, point and close, making a window (pre-plies) walking and running on tippy-toes (releve') standing tall, short, wide, and narrow. Circling arms in front and overhead. Short dance studies introduced: Butterfly Dance, Bunny Hop, 6 Little Princesses, At the Palace, & Bird Dance. PLEASE NOTE: JAZZ AND TAP Dances are also offered every second semester for KG, Grades 1,2,3,4, and 5 to add variation in continuing to capture our student's natural enthusiasm and love for dance, rhythm, and music. Fairy Princess - Pre-Primary:- Our Fairy Princess class is the continuation of the previous course and introduces students to more ballet movement through stories, play pretend and dress-up play. Steps and exercises are introduced in a fun and simple way. The focus is on spatial orientation and use basic counting skills and rhythms. Students are also encouraged to express what they feel through movement and rhythmic activities using variety of hand props. Movements introduced: Arms in first, second positions, demi-plies in first and second positions, tendu to the front and side, straightening legs, walk in tip-toe, ballet marches, jumps, gallops, skips, exercise for eye focus and travelling exercises in different directions. Short dance studies introduced: Enchainment A & B, The Fairy Princess, Greeting Dance, The Wind and the Easter Bunny dance, and the Woodland fairy. Ballet Class - Primary Level:- The students here are introduced to the primary class; a perfect dance class for students who already passed the previous levels. The class structure is beginning to follow the full ballet class. The students begin to learn simple ballet techniques in the barre and center floor and can already understand basic ballet terminology (such as plie', releve', tendu, battement, bourre', port-de-bra, saute's', etc.) Students memorize short steps combinations and repeated the sequence on their own. Junior Ballet:- The first class of Junior Ballet is placed on the graceful movements of the dancer's body. The development of the fluid port-de-bras, 1st through 5th and the carriage of the upper body and the facial expression is given more emphasis as well as the discipline and self-control. At this level the center floor and bar exercises combinations are longer and the dancers are motivated to apply self-correction. Movements introduced: Feet on 5th, arabesques, chane' turn, jete, emboite, saute', echappe', changement, pique, assemble', pick up runs, etc. Dance studies: Polka study, Dance-Girls, Ballet with style, Dance of the Princesses in Sleeping Beauty. Coach Stuart will bring his expert assistants and run a special soccer class for beginners on Wednesdays. Brazilian Soccer is designed around the game of Futebol De Salao. This is 5 a side game that started in Brazil and uses a different size 2weighted football. The younger students will concentrate on improving their skills and techniques. There will be 1 on 1 playing and some small-sided games. The older students (7-10) will also work on skills and techniques but also play conditioned games and game related play.
