RIS FILM FESTIVAL 2012 |

Objective
A number of students will be selected to take part in a three-week introduction to filmmaking culminating in the screening of work at the RIS Film Festival 2012 |
Goals
Workshop participants will be taught all the production elements of film-making including
screenplay writing, story boarding, directing, filming and editing. Participants will work in
groups to rotate responsibilities and sharing abilities to each come up with a 3-4 minute
short movie. These movies will be screened at the festival in January 2012. |
Festival
The festival will comprise of several seminars and lectures, including talks by US based
film-director Simão Cayatte, whose film A Viagem ('The Trip')premiered at the Cannes
international film festival earlier this year. Simão will be the film-instructor for the course
and chief adjudicator at the film screening. Films produced during the course will be
screened along with other films made during this academic year and submitted before
January 14th. Films produced during the course will have until January 24th. |
Application and SelectionInterested students are invited to apply to join the course which will be set at a maximum
20 students. Applications should be written on no more than one side of A4 paper and
submitted via their English teacher no later than December 13th. In the application
students might like to consider:
- Why they would like to be on the course
- What experience they might have with filming and/or editing or photography
- Why they enjoy film/film-making
- Whether they have any ambitions in the business

| Enthusiasm is privileged over experience and, while some experience is recommended, it
is not essential.. Students should also indicate as specifically as possible, if they have
experience, what cameras/editing software they are familiar with. |
