RIS BELIEVES IN THE POWER OF ART
|
| |
Ruamrudee International School is proud to introduce the RIS Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Programme, which invites professional artists from around the world to work closely with our students and staff in various forms of the performing and film arts.
RIS is the first international school in Bangkok to launch such a program, which offers a truly extraordinary opportunity for our students to gain exposure to the expertise and creative energy of internationally renowned artists, dramatists and filmmakers.
In January, RIS welcomes award-winning filmmaker Simao Cayatte, who joins us on the heels of presenting his short film A Viagem (The Trip) at the Cannes International Film Festival. During his residency at RIS, Simao will be working on an original film; collaborating with students to produce a short-film festival at RIS; and leading professional development workshops for teachers in the areas of filmmaking and scriptwriting.
Following the film festival, RIS welcomes improv and sports theater actor/director Kevin Gillese. Kevin’s residency coincides with the Southeastern Asian Student Activities Conference (SEASAC), which RIS will be hosting this year for over 150 international school students from across the region. Kevin will be leading workshops on improvisation, stand-up comedy and sports theater, as well as working with teachers from across the disciplines.
AiR will conclude for the school year with a series of workshops led by actress/director Georgia Munnion. Georgia will introduce students to a variety of theatrical forms that tap into physical communication and expression, including masks, clowning, movement and mime. |
