Inline skate - Rollerblading
Inline skating or Rollerblading is a great activity for boys and girls. After only one or two lessons, most children are able to find their balance and can skate on their own. That’s when students fall in love with the sport and gain confidence to learn more. Skating helps develop autonomy in children, discovering their strengths and limitations, taking learning into their own hands. Inline skating helps children keep fit while having fun, encouraging fast decision making and leadership skills. There are many physical and health benefits, including increased endurance and body strength, improved coordination, balance, reflexes, and flexibility. As students master the art of skating, movement becomes natural, helping to clear the mind and relieve stress. Skating is simply great fun!

Environmental Science
This Environmental Science EDP is for students who are passionate about nature. This EDP will be student-led, meaning that we will focus on topics that interest the group as a whole. Possible topics that have been covered in the past are: recycling, water, renewable resources, plants, animals, and climate change. The goal will be to have great conversations together, which will incite questions, stimulate experimentation, and encourage further research. While we will use the Science Lab as a home base to begin our discussions indoors, another objective will also be for the group to apply their learning in a hands-on manner outdoors. In this EDP, students will deepen their scientific inquiry, build on their collaboration skills, and foster an appreciation of nature and living sustainably.

Minecraft can be considered an updated digital version of the classic Lego building blocks, which are connected and assembled to create a practically limitless variety of structures. The same is true for Minecraft, except that instead of handling building blocks, players work in a virtual world using pixelated cubes. The main limitation is the user’s imagination. This course will:
- build 21st-century skills
- incorporate math and visual arts
- learn to code in Minecraft

Our classes are fast-paced. Students will learn by experimenting and problem-solving, NOT by simply following paper instructions. We encourage students in this course to push their ideas further than originally imagined by testing and revising their projects. Students display mastery of concepts by inventing solutions to open-ended problems during collaborative and competitive play.
