Covid-19 Update: The RIS Minburi campus is closed until further notice. We appreciate your continued support
Ruamrudee International School places a huge value on student safety and protection. Our school community implements campus-wide safety measures, including student safeguarding procedures and policies, to help protect our students and keep them safe while they develop to their full potential.
Schools fill a special institutional role in society as protectors of children. Child abuse and neglect are violations of a child’s human rights and obstacles to a child’s education, as well as to his or her physical, emotional, and spiritual development. RIS is guided by the Thai Child Protection Act of 2003 and endorses the Convention on the Rights of the Child, of which Thailand is a signatory. Therefore RIS seeks to be a safe haven for students who may be experiencing abuse or neglect in any aspect of their lives. RIS educators have both a professional and ethical obligation to identify children who are in need of help and protection, and as a school, RIS will take steps to ensure that children and families can use the services they need to remedy any situation that constitutes child abuse or neglect. By enrolling your child at Ruamrudee International School, you will be working in partnership with us to ensure that your child is protected, knowledgeable about his or her rights and responsibilities, and can learn in a trusting, safe, and supportive environment.
Flap gates are installed at every non-vehicular point of entry that can be opened only by a school-issued ID card. These include cards issued to each student, teacher, and faculty member. Visitor ID cards also open the flap gates and can be obtained from the security guard stations at each gate. You can get a Visitor ID card by showing proof of ID and stating the person you are visiting. The guards will then call the person you are visiting to confirm your appointment.
For security reasons, every student, teacher, faculty member, and administrator is expected to wear their school ID card on campus, and ID cards must be visible at all times. Obtaining and activating an ID card is part of the registration process for each member of the school community. The Security and Safety Department manages the access granted to each card; for example, student ID cards are unable to open certain doors that are designated for staff access only.
The Security and Safety Department also manages the Visitor ID cards that are given out at the security guard stations at the school gates and that are easily identifiable by their yellow lanyards. Access to the school will not be granted if an ID card is not displayed or presented on request.
Pedestrians and people on bicycles are allowed on campus after showing the security guards the appropriate ID cards. People in vehicles, including golf carts, must also show their ID cards, but for everyone’s safety, traffic on and through campus is restricted to certain times.
School Days:
Vehicles, including golf carts, are not permitted between Gate 6 and Gate 7 on school days:
Before 8:00 am and Between 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Weekends:
Gates are open from 6:00 am – 6:00 pm
School buildings and facilities are wired with 24-hour CCTV that is monitored by the staff in the Security and Safety Department. For privacy reasons, the CCTV in the Residence at Seelos Hall is monitored by the Residence staff.
Air pollution is a growing concern worldwide. Research indicates that exposure to air pollution can impact our health. RIS routinely monitors the Air Quality Index (AQI), which was designed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is used to determine the quality of the air. RIS has committed to adjust practices based on information from the EPA and the World Health Organization. Click here to read the RIS AQI policy. You can also access our school’s primary AQI sensor through the “AirVisual” app or website with the following code: RIS Admin/Godbout: NRTVNMOK
RIS has instituted a lightning policy to keep students and staff safe on campus when lightning is nearby. Our Aquatics Coordinator and team members actively monitor the Weather Bug App during regular school hours and after-school activities to determine the presence of lightning strikes in the area. When lightning is detected, they initiate the RIS Lightning Policy and Procedure.
Ruamrudee International School (RIS) strongly believes in safeguarding the wellbeing of its community.
