RIS students utilize new digital donation platform to help the Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disabilities

RIS high school students Rawit (Beam) Thamparanon, Nongnaphat (Pear) Rawara, and Thanapat (TJ) Jirapojaporn recently had a chance to give back to the community by utilizing DSongboon, an online donation platform developed by AngelTime, an innovative tech company specializing in paperless yet legally-binding solutions for electronic transactions through Blockchain technology. DSongboon acts as a secure bridge between donors and receivers. Recipients are certified by community leaders and ensured through a multi-step authentication process, including government ID verification.

Service learning has always been a fundamental element of character development at RIS, and as long-time RIS students, Beam, Pear, and TJ have long been familiar with the Redemptorists of Thailand. The trio were very instrumental in connecting the Redemptorists with the DSongboon app. Alongside executives from AngelTime, they met with Fr. Pattarapong Srivorakul, C.Ss.R., the President of the Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disabilities, in Pattaya during the summer and discussed the fundraising opportunities that DSongboon presented.

Beam, Pear and TJ were able to raise awareness for the Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disabilities and conveniently facilitate the secure transfer of donations by completely utilizing the DSongboon app and its features. “We helped develop digital marketing strategies for the foundation and its various schools,” shares Beam of their initiative. “The strategy consisted of three fundraising methods that would target food donations, scholarships, and infrastructure development.”

“We helped to analyze and combine facility costs of the foundation to create donation packages that would help donors easily decide what they wanted their donation to support, whether through school supplies or specific equipment such as wheelchairs,” adds Pear. “We also helped create a video and posters to help promote the Redemptorist Foundation on the DSongboon app.”

Through DSongboon, it is not only the Redemptorist Foundation that Beam, Pear, and TJ hope to support. The students also hope to encourage others to contribute to various other causes on the app once they see how simple and easily it can be done. “This project can also be a reference for fundraising for other associations,” says TJ. “Hopefully, our involvement also helps with spreading awareness on how DSongboon is a secure and convenient platform that can help people with donating safely.”

“I hope this project will be an example of the positive impact that blockchain technology can have on our communities and that the RIS community, as well as the greater community, will use DSongboon to fundraise for various causes.” adds Beam. “I believe everyone deserves an equal opportunity to shine. As stated by Dr. Suporntham Mongkolsawas, Secretariat of the Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disabilities: ‘Even though we are not born perfect, our value in society is equally significant.’”
