MS & HS Summer Reading Contest

Dear Middle and High School Students:

During the summer, you can participate in our very own RIS Good Reads-like reading recommendation network, connect with friends you miss, and earn MS House (rising 6-8th) or grade-level points (rising 9th-12th) by participating in the Summer Reading Contest!

It’s easy—just Login with your nickname, and your password is your Student ID number (no “ris”). If yours doesn’t work, please email me ASAP so I can get you your username/password:

Here is a 2-minute tutorial if you’re having trouble using the program–and remember, you must write a “Profile description,” and add an avatar in order to have your profile “count” towards this challenge! Every book review that has at least 4-5 words will count! You can also check in on Google Classroom where the slideshow will be updated weekly with house/grade-level standings (or just bookmark the slideshow)!

Besides house points when you return, and keeping in contact with your friends, as you progress in the program during the summer, it will reward you with a variety of different vintage video games, such as Mario Bros, Zelda and Donkey Kong as you “Level Up”!

MS House Points for the house that writes the most Book reviews:

  • 1st Place: 600
  • 2nd Place: 450
  • 3rd Place: 300
  • 4th Place: 150
  • 5th Place: 50

HS Grade Level Points for the grade that writes the most Book Reviews:

  • 1st Place: 150
  • 2nd Place: 100
  • 3rd Place: 75
  • 4th Place: 50

Current 5th grade/rising 6th graders will be “counted” in the MS challenge, as soon as they get their House assignments!

Current 8th grade/rising 9th grade students will be “counted” in the HS Grade-level contest!

Happy Summer Reading!
