Model United Nations (MUN) members learn skills in international diplomacy by researching various world problems to represent countries by role-playing as if they were members of the United Nations. Essential and topical issues of global significance are discussed, and student delegates present possible solutions to these questions in carefully drafted resolutions. Besides participating in the SEASAC MUN, students also participate in international conferences and several local MUNs.
The following are highlights from different Model United Nations events throughout the 2023–2024 academic year.
MUN CONFERENCE AT UWCSEA
Singapore, January 19–21
RIS students (including both delegates and chairs) had the opportunity to attend the Middle School UWCSEA MUN conference in Singapore (East Campus) and stayed at Grand Mercure Roxy.
MS MUN Conference at OFS
Singapore, February 2-4
RIS students attended the Middle School OFS MUN conference in Singapore, staying at D’Resort.
Being Pages at RISMUN XVII
Bangkok, February 24
RIS Middle School students acted as Pages at the RISMUN XVII Conference, held at RIS, and had the opportunity to observe experienced high-school MUN Club members debate and learn valuable lessons from their experiences.

RIS Middle School students attended the MS MUN Conference at International School Bangkok (ISB).
MS MUN Trip to UN ESCAP
Bangkok, April 11
The Thailand Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited RIS Middle School and High School students to the UN ESCAP building in Bangkok.
HS MUN Bootcamp @RIS
Bangkok, October 23
A bootcamp hosted by the HS MUN Club to prepare new members for their first external MUN conference.
BKKMUN @NIST
Bangkok, October 28
RIS students participated in BKKMUN, this year hosted by NIST. It was a first-time conference for many RIS students but they all performed well. Gunn and Ivy served as chairs for this conference.

SEASAC MUN 2024 @NIST
Bangkok, February 29-March 3
RIS students participated in SEASAC MUN. They attended a gala dinner on February 29th and participated in a three day conference from March 1-3. Ivy and Gunn represented RIS as chairs. RIS students received two awards: Ethan for Best Delegate of ECOSOC, and Gunn for Best Chair.
THAIMUN XI @ Brighton college
Bangkok, March 23-25
RIS students participated in the world-class conference THAIMUN XI with almost 700 people participating this year. Gunn, Bogey, and Kla served as chairs. Krit and Tony both received honorable mention awards for their respective committees.
