A Two-Day Immersive Professional Development Workshop for Art Educators

RIS Ruamrudee International School is pleased to host “Process Over Product: Releasing Creative Intelligence Within,” an immersive professional development workshop facilitated by international educator, curriculum designer, and Art-Ed Hub founder Nikki De Marco.

February 20–21, 2027
RIS Ruamrudee International School
6 Ramkhamhaeng 184, Minburi
Bangkok 10510, Thailand

Saturday: 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Sunday: 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

About the Workshop

Art education has the power to develop creative thinking, analytical thinking, collaboration, resilience, and self-awareness—but only when the learning process moves beyond producing a polished final product.

This two-day immersive experience invites art educators to explore what happens when uncertainty enters the creative process and how their own habits, responses, and ways of attending influence the students they teach.

Moving between theory, hands-on making, individual reflection, and collaborative practice, the workshop introduces participants to Creative Intelligence through an awareness-based, Jungian-informed approach. Participants will experience the creative process themselves before considering how its principles can be transferred into their classrooms.

The Two-Day Experience

Day One: The Inner Landscape

Participants will explore their responses to uncertainty, including the impulse to find the correct answer, return to familiar techniques, or maintain control. Drawing on Jungian psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and the Creative Intelligence framework, the day combines embodied making experiences with reflection and collaborative work.

Day Two: The Three Essentials

The second day turns the experience outward toward classroom practice through three essential pillars of art education:

  • Skills as the development of attention, perception, and meaning-making
  • Play as a bridge between conscious and unconscious thought
  • Writing about art as a way of developing reflection and metacognition

The workshop concludes by considering AI as a creative-thinking partner and exploring how educators can use powerful tools with discernment, self-awareness, and intention.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This workshop is designed for visual arts educators, art department leaders, curriculum coordinators, instructional coaches, and other educators interested in creative intelligence, arts-based learning, and the role of creativity in human development.

Participants Will TAKE AWAY:

  • An embodied understanding of Creative Intelligence
  • Greater awareness of their own creative habits and responses to uncertainty
  • Practical classroom approaches that can be applied across curriculum contexts
  • Shared language for creative process, reflection, and metacognition
  • Strategies for developing attention, perception, play, and meaning-making
  • A renewed understanding of the purpose and potential of art education
