RIS Alumna Risha Kulworasreth Inspires as Medical Student and TikTok Star
RIS Ruamrudee International School is thrilled to share the story of Risha Kulworasreth, Class of 2022. She stands out not only as a hardworking medical student but also as a TikTok star with over 317,000 followers on her channel, @rishacantdance. Risha’s journey shows how she uses both her academic skills and creative energy to succeed in different areas of her life.
Growing Up at RIS
Risha started at RIS in Grade 4 and graduated in 2022. During her time here, she took on many leadership roles. She was Class President for three years and High School President in Grade 12. She was also inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS), which recognizes students for their academic achievement, leadership, character, and service.
Reflecting on her time at RIS, Risha shared, “My most cherished memory was planning for the Knowledge Bowl with my grade’s student council team. Every step was an adventure, from scavenging Bangkok for decorative items to DIY-ing signs and spray painting materials. It taught me how to balance leadership and friendship, and the experience brought me closer to friends who are now my best friends—even though we’re spread across the world, we still talk every day. These moments not only shaped my approach to teamwork but also left me with lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.”
At RIS, Risha didn’t just focus on academics. She participated in extracurricular activities like competitive swimming and international events like the World Scholar’s Cup. She also gave back to the community by leading the LEO Club, where she helped organize fundraisers that raised significant amounts of money to support people in need.
From RIS to Medical School
After graduating, Risha joined the Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Medicine (PSCM-UCL), a seven-year program connected to University College London. She is now in her third year of studying clinical sciences in Thailand and will soon continue her education in the UK. Risha’s decision to pursue medicine came from seeing how healthcare workers helped others during the COVID-19 pandemic, which inspired her to make a difference.
“My initial inspiration came during the COVID-19 pandemic, witnessing healthcare workers on the frontlines and viewing them as heroes,” she explained. “While I’m still in the preclinical studies, my visits to the hospital and interactions with patients have been deeply motivating. Hearing their stories, along with the impact my professors have had on their lives, has been incredibly inspiring. As a future doctor, I’m being taught to see beyond the ‘patient’ and treat the ‘person’—someone with mental and emotional needs alongside their physical ailments—and this holistic perspective is what I find most rewarding about my studies so far.”

Sharing Her Life on TikTok
Risha’s TikTok journey started during her senior year at RIS. She began by posting fun and relatable videos about high school life. “I wanted to save these memories,” she said in an interview with Hello! Education magazine. Her channel, @rishacantdance, includes dance videos, travel vlogs, and lifestyle content that reflect her fun and approachable personality. Even though the name suggests she’s not great at dancing, her videos have gained her a large following for their authenticity and positivity.
Recently, Risha visited RIS as an alumna and shared her experience in a TikTok video, which you can watch here. Her return to campus was a heartwarming moment for the community and a reminder of how RIS continues to shape its students for lifelong success.
When asked how she manages her time between medical school and TikTok, Risha admitted, “To be honest, I haven’t mastered this yet, and that’s OK. Initially, balancing medical school and TikTok was manageable and even fun. However, as I’ve progressed into my third year, with a heavier workload and the National License Medical Exam approaching, it’s become more challenging. I’ve realized that time management and prioritization are key. Fortunately, my medical university’s UCL-modeled curriculum schedules most major exams at the end of the school year, allowing me more freedom to create content beforehand. My advice is to focus on what truly matters to you, stay organized, and don’t hesitate to seek support from friends, family, or mentors!”
A Role Model for RIS Students
Risha’s leadership roles at RIS have influenced how she approaches her current pursuits. “Leadership at RIS, especially as President of the LEO Club and the Student Council, taught me to lead with empathy and inclusivity,” she reflected. “Initially, I tried to handle everything myself, but managing larger-scale projects made me realize the importance of teamwork and trusting others to contribute their best. These roles helped me understand that effective leadership isn’t just about directing—it’s about inspiring and enabling others to bring their strengths to the table. This perspective has shaped my approach in medical school and research, where collaboration is vital and continues to guide my commitment to using my skills for the greater good.”
Risha shared this encouraging message for current students: “Don’t be afraid to start. When I first began my TikTok page, being on the platform was considered ‘cringey,’ but now it’s seen as ‘cool.’ The truth is, it doesn’t matter what others think—do what you want to do and work towards your dreams until they become a reality. If others gossip or criticize you, take it as a sign that they’re not the right people for you. Your true friends and family will always support you.”
