RIS Badminton Teams Shine at SEASAC and ISB Tournaments
From March 21–23, 2025, Ruamrudee International School proudly participated in the SEASAC Badminton Championships hosted by NIST International School in Bangkok. Both the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys teams represented RIS with exceptional skill, sportsmanship, and determination in one of the most competitive badminton tournaments of the year.
The Varsity Girls Badminton Team began their tournament with a narrow 2–3 loss to Harrow International School, a match that could have gone either way. They bounced back with a strong showing against NIST later that day and advanced to the quarterfinals, where they defeated UWC Dover. On the final day, the girls faced United World College East (UWCE) in the championship match. In an intense and emotional showdown, the RIS girls were narrowly defeated—3 sets to 2—finishing the tournament in second place overall.
The Varsity Boys Badminton Team opened the tournament with a commanding 5–0 victory over ISY, continuing their momentum with another strong win over NIST in the quarterfinals. The boys also advanced to the championship match, where they too met UWCE in a highly anticipated final. Like their female counterparts, the boys battled fiercely in a match that came down to the wire, ultimately falling 3 sets to 2 in a heartbreaking finish.
Both RIS varsity teams played their way into the championship round, securing second place out of 16 top-tier international schools—a remarkable achievement that reflects their skill, grit, and unity. The narrow 3–2 losses in both finals are a testament to how closely contested the tournament was. RIS athletes and coaches should be incredibly proud of their performances, and there is already a hopeful eye toward going one step further next year.
Meanwhile, at International School Bangkok (ISB), RIS was also represented at the JV level. The JV Girls and Boys Badminton Teams took part in a local tournament alongside several other Bangkok international schools. RIS is thrilled to share that the JV Girls Badminton Team emerged as champions, showcasing talent and teamwork throughout the event.
