A WEEKEND OF COMPETITION, CAMARADERIE, AND PHOENIX PRIDE
From March 21–23, 2025, RIS Ruamrudee International School proudly hosted the 2025 SEASAC Softball Boys and Girls Championships, welcoming 24 teams from across Southeast Asia to its beautiful Bangkok campus. Over three action-packed days, the RIS community came together to celebrate athleticism, sportsmanship, and international camaraderie.
The tournament opened with an all-school assembly at Godbout Hall, where RIS students and staff gave a warm welcome to the visiting teams. The community demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship by applauding every school and offering enthusiastic support for RIS Phoenix athletes throughout the weekend.
Friday was also celebrated as a Spirit Day, with teachers and students dressed in RIS colors—blue, red, and white—to show their school pride. Games took place on both Phoenix and Godbout Fields, and food vendors were on-site to keep energy levels high for players and spectators alike.
On the field, RIS athletes delivered strong performances. In Girls Softball, the Phoenix faced Stamford American International School (SAIS), Singapore, in Round 1, with a final score of RIS 4 – SAIS 14. Despite battling illnesses that reduced the roster to just nine players, the girls fought with determination throughout the tournament. They advanced to the Plate final against NIST International School, ultimately placing 6th overall after a hard-fought 7–11 loss. The team is already looking forward to next year’s SEASAC.
In Boys Softball, the Phoenix faced Dover Court International School in their opening match, falling 4–43, but bounced back with strong teamwork and perseverance. The boys secured two great wins in their final matches, finishing 2nd in the Bowl Division. A highlight moment came on Saturday when Peter Dunne (Co27) and Max Kemp (Co27) each hit home runs, energizing the crowd and lifting team morale.
Congratulations go to United World College East, Singapore, whose Boys and Girls Softball teams emerged victorious after closely contested finals.
While the final standings may not tell the full story, RIS takes immense pride in how its student-athletes represented the school—with grit, grace, and unity.
Special thanks go to the RIS Athletics Office, faculty and staff, maintenance crew, volunteers, and student supporters who made the event possible. Hosting SEASAC is always a community effort, and RIS truly shone both on and off the field.
