RIS Hosts IYBC 2026

RIS Welcomes International Youth Basketball Championships 2026 to Campus

Ruamrudee International School (RIS) was honored to host the official press conference for the International Youth Basketball Championships 2026 (IYBC 2026) on Wednesday, June 24, at the RIS Performing Arts Center (PAC) on the Minburi Campus.

Bringing together representatives from Thailand’s government, sporting organizations, education sector, and the media, the event officially launched one of the region’s largest international youth basketball tournaments, which will take place from July 24–28, 2026 across the RIS Minburi Campus and RIS Swiss Section.

The press conference was attended by distinguished guests including representatives from the Sports Authority of Thailand, the Department of Physical Education, the Basketball Sport Association of Thailand, and the IYBC Organizing Committee. Representing RIS and the Redemptorist Fathers Foundation of Thailand was Rev. Fr. Patipon Sub-ananchai, C.Ss.R., Assistant School Director (Operations), who reaffirmed the school’s commitment to supporting opportunities that promote youth development through sport.

Before the formal presentations began, guests participated in a ceremonial tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, whose graciously bestowed Royal Trophies will be awarded to the champions of the Boys’ and Girls’ Under-16 and Under-18 divisions. The Royal Trophies represent the highest honor of the tournament and underscore its significance within Thailand’s youth sporting community.

This year’s championship has attracted an impressive 93 teams representing 12 countries, one United States territory, and two Special Administrative Regions of the People’s Republic of China, making it one of the largest editions of the tournament to date. Participating delegations include teams from Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, Guam, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Competition will be held across seven divisions, including Boys’ Under-12, Boys’ and Girls’ Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18 categories, providing young athletes with opportunities to compete at an international level while developing teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

As host venue, RIS is proud to welcome student-athletes, coaches, families, officials, and supporters from across Asia and beyond. Hosting an event of this scale reflects the school’s commitment to providing meaningful experiences that extend beyond the classroom and supports its mission of developing well-rounded students prepared to thrive in an interconnected world.

RIS looks forward to welcoming the international basketball community to campus for what promises to be an exciting week of competition, cultural exchange, and friendship through sport.
